To me, art is a continuous circle that is constantly changing
and taking different shapes. My art is influenced by my emotions, my surroundings,
and my experiences in life. It is hard to separate art from my life.
Though my style has changed greatly since my earlier works, my paintings
still show impressions of my heritage. I have expanded from my base
of oil and acrylic painting and developed a passion for watercolor,
pastel, photography, collage, batik, monoprint, ink, and woodcut prints.
I love the spontaneity and freshness of watercolor and monoprints,
the brightness of pastels, and the bold lines of woodcuts. Photography
and inks strike me with their stark contrast of black and white and
with their soft grays.
Nature is my inspiration. I try to capture its beauty, energy, and
patterns in my work. But the beautiful and the exotic are not my only
subjects. I find beauty all around me, even in the plain and ordinary.
I am also inspired by cultural aspects of life, and try to capture these
in both painting and photography.
