Folk Art of India: A Journey Through Northern Minnesota

This September, I have been traveling throughout Northern Minnesota sharing the folk art traditions of India through hands-on library workshops. The first part of my journey is complete.

I have already visited 13 communities including Duluth, Moose Lake, Cloquet, Mountain Iron, Chisholm, Biwabik, Buhl, Eveleth, Cook, International Falls, Ely, and Babbitt,, meeting children, adults, families, and library participants who came together to learn, create, and experience Indian folk art.

The Journey Continues

There are still 12 upcoming workshops throughout Northern Minnesota.

If you would like to learn about an impermanent art form and have fun creating with colored sand, please join me at one of these library workshops. You will create your own artwork and take it home with you. For me, teaching these traditions is about more than making something beautiful. These art forms are connected to everyday life, celebration, community, and tradition. I enjoy giving people an opportunity to experience them through their own hands.
