Starting this Monday, I’m excited to begin a two-month creative journey with seniors, developing and painting canvases for our upcoming community art exhibit. This project, supported by COMPAS and the Humanity Grant, brings together Gond art, mandalas, and folk symbolism to create a shared artistic experience.

While many of the seniors have never worked with art before, their enthusiasm is inspiring. Those who have done art in the past are thrilled to reconnect with their creativity, and together, we will explore patterns, colors, and storytelling traditions.

Each canvas will reflect themes of growth, unity, and community:

A peacock in Gond style, where the tail feathers transform into fish, symbolizing the interconnectedness of nature.

A wish tree, with deep roots representing the strength of a growing community.

A mandala, framed by a lotus circle and four corners, symbolizing the balance between home and the world.

I’m grateful to COMPAS and the Humanity Grant for making this meaningful work possible. Art has the power to bring joy, connection, and a sense of belonging, and I look forward to seeing how this project unfolds over the next two months.

Stay tuned for updates as we paint, create, and celebrate the power of community through art!
